What the markup is

Business markup is a block of data in the page's code that states the business's facts in a form machines read: name, address, phone, hours. It does not change how the page looks.

What Google asks for

For the LocalBusiness type, Google lists two required properties: name and address. It recommends, among others: telephone, url, opening hours, geographic coordinates and a price range. Review markup is only for sites that collect reviews about other local businesses.

Keep it true

The markup must match what the page shows. A phone number in the code that differs from the number on the page is a fault worth fixing.

What we check

Whether the page declares a business type, whether name and address are present, whether the phone matches a phone shown on the page, and whether the language tag matches the text. We show these in a plain table, not as a score. If the page builds its content with scripts, we say we could not check.
